Breast surgery can be divided into three groups:

Breast lifting
Breast reduction
Breast enlargement

Breast lifting uses existing tissue to support and lift, to give a younger shape.
Breast reduction is a surgical procedure to reduce the weight and size of over-sized breasts.

Breast enlargement is the surgical procedure of inserting implants.

If surgery is carried out under a local anaesthetic, the patient can return home after a few hours.
If under a general anaesthetic, normally a night-stay in hospital would be necessary.
Convalescence varies between 1 to 4 weeks, dependent upon the type of surgery undertaken.
